Strain of the week White Widow

What is White Widow?

A legendary hybrid strain which has been around since the 90s. White Widow has a global popularity and can often be found at the top of the menu in funky bars in Amsterdam. This stem produces a cognitive driven high with some relaxing undertones. Its buds are white with a crystal resin and this should stand as a subtle warning of its potent effects. Considered by many to have a 60% Sativa (mind) and 40% Indica (body) ratio, the White Widow strain is a full-bodied medicine which can be, well, a bit spacey.

It is bred specifically for its high trichome count and is valued particularly in the production of hash. The strain has on average a THC composition of 20%, however some may exceed this number.  ( P.C - Leafly)

Effects

Users often opt for White Widow if they are seeking a strain which can allow them to relax whilst still keeping their wit and a sense of mental awareness. It is great for individuals with depression, stress, pain, and PTSD. This strain is great if you want to improve your mood and is said to produce a powerful burst of euphoria and energy which breaks through almost immediately, stimulating both your conversation and creativity. The effects of this Sativa-dominant Hybrid are complex yet very enjoyable and users tend to report having a good time whilst consuming it.

Flavours

White Widow gets its name from the fact that it is literally covered in white crystals. When consuming this strain users must be careful as although the sweet sugary smoke starts out light it can expand dramatically and may lead to heavy coughing, especially if you’re not a regular smoker. When it comes to scent you can usually detect a slight citrus and peppery scent from this product, users have also claimed a pleasant lemony aftertaste. This being said, White Widow is especially pungent following combustion. Those who plan on being discreet should most definitely take note.

Growth History

This balanced hybrid first came about in the 1990s, it was bred in the Netherlands by Green House Seeds. The strain is a cross between a Brazilian sativa landrace and a resin heavy South Indian Indica. At its time of it birth the underground cannabis market consisted of mostly early hybrids like Northern Lights and Haze however since, White Widow has joined these strains in the hall of fame and even won an early High Times Cannabis Cup in 1995.

Its genetics have also paved the way for a range of popular strains including White Russian, White Rhino, and Blue Widow. White Widow however still remains a firm favourite, especially amongst growers who prefers its cultivation. The strain flowers in around 60 days indoors.
